Code of Ethics in the field of AI in medicine and healthcare
The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and the introduction of AI systems into medicine and healthcare open up new opportunities in the provision of effective and high-quality medical care, but also generate risks related to the safety of using innovative technologies and violating citizens' rights. In this regard, it is important to formulate ethical approaches that would ensure the positive development of AI technologies in medicine. and healthcare, and would prevent possible negative phenomena in this area, as well as contribute to a positive perception by citizens and doctors.
The first edition of the joint Code of Ethics for the use of AI in the field of health protection of the Ministry of Health of Russia and the Alliance in the field of AI
We present the first edition of the joint Code of Ethics for the use of artificial intelligence in the field of health protection, developed by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in cooperation with the Alliance for Artificial Intelligence. The document unites the approaches of the Russian Ministry of Health and the AI Alliance to the responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies in healthcare and contains common ethical principles and recommendations for all participants in the development, research, implementation, application and decommissioning of AI systems at all stages of their life cycle. The first edition of the Code has been published for public discussion. Based on the results of expert consultations and consideration of the received proposals, the document will be finalized, and the final version of the Code will be presented in August 2026.
